Subject: Summary of Upgrade - ETUDES-NG
Dear Colleagues:
As you know, we performed a couple of small upgrades this week. Sorry for
getting this message out so late, but I had to race out-of-town on business
and was unable to follow up with notes on the fixes and enhancements.
Here is a summary of the issues that we addressed:
1) Wiki tool - For those of you piloting Wiki, userid's are no longer
displayed anywhere.
2) Jforum Discussion & Private Messages tool - fixes and enhancements:
- Refactored JForum code to load info in cache on demand (significant
performance work)
- Implemented IMS CP "Import/Export" of discussion forums and tasks topics
(see tutorial in Users Group)
- 'Quick Reply' NO longer turns on 'watch' automatically (change in default
behavior per users' request)
- Resorting of forums was not updated on launch page in some cases (fixed)
- of topics in Disc Home didn't propagate to other app servers until users
posted something new (fixed)
- Corrections in language/text of PM alert messages were made (fixed)
Many thanks to Murthy Tanniru for his focused work on this release,
especially the cache refactoring work.
Thanks also go to QA testers: Kathleen O'Brien; Sarah Phinney; Margie White;
Carolyn Brown; Andres Martinez; Kathy Fransham; Riba Taylor; Suzanne Floyd;
Norah Glover; Phil Simons; Kyong Kim; Vivie Sinou; and, Allyn Leon.
3) Melete Lesson Builder tool fixes:
This small maintenance release addresses a couple of annoying bugs that were
introduced with the inclusion of the image insert/upload icon in FCK Editor
that we had missed, affecting URL's. Additionally, it resolves invalid
errors related to users uploading or linking to files with spaces or invalid
characters in filenames, such as $, parentheses (new with FCK Editor
re-uploads of duplicate filenames), etc. Please note that users CANNOT
include the hash sign (#) in filenames. Melete will now give users a
meaningful error upon saving/adding files with invalid filenames.
Many thanks to Rashmi Maheshwari, Mallika Thoppay, and Chuck Hedrick for
their work on this Melete release.
MAJOR thanks go to Kyong Kim, System/Database administrator for ETUDES-NG,
for performing the upgrades successfully onto the ETUDES-NG production
servers in the wee hours of the morning, *twice* this week.
